Window lock and handle repairs
Handle loose, broken or spinning? Window won't lock? It's usually the handle or the locking mechanism, and both are quick to replace.
Send a photo for a fixed price, usually within 15 minutes in opening hours.
What goes wrong
The handle turns but the window won't open or lock. The handle is loose, snapped or stiff. The key for a locking handle has gone missing. Usually it's the handle, or the locking mechanism inside the frame (often called an espagnolette, or espag), that has worn out or broken.
What we do
We replace the handle or the locking mechanism, check the keeps on the frame that the lock closes into, and adjust the window so it locks smoothly.
A handle is £95, and £45 for each extra handle at the same visit, so it's easy to change a whole room's handles so they match.
Questions people ask
The handle spins but nothing happens. What's broken?
Usually the gearbox in the locking mechanism has failed, or the handle's spindle has snapped. A short video tells us which. A new locking mechanism is £150 and a new handle is £95.
My window won't lock. Do I need a new window?
Almost never. It's usually the locking mechanism, the keeps on the frame, or hinges that have dropped, and we can replace all of those.
I've lost the key to my window handle. Can you help?
Yes. We replace the locking handle, which comes with new keys. Handles are £95.
Can you change all the handles so they match?
Yes. The first handle is £95 and each extra handle at the same visit is £45. Tell us the colour you'd like.
